In the pursuit of wealth, many find themselves at a crossroads between personal prosperity and a greater purpose. As Christians, it can be difficult to know how to combine our faith and finances. For example, if Jesus had our money, how would he use it? Would He give it all away to the poor, or would He invest some of it?
Kingdom finance is a topic that asks these questions and more. It is the application of biblical teachings about money with the goal of advancing the Kingdom of Heaven on the earth through financial resources. But what exactly is Kingdom finance, and how can we use it to make a difference?
What is Kingdom Finance?
At its core, Kingdom finance involves leveraging money in a way that aligns with the principles of the Kingdom of Heaven. In Matthew 6:10, Jesus prays, “Your kingdom come, your will be done, on earth as it is in heaven.”
Jesus came to bring the Kingdom of Heaven to earth in practical ways, and building wealth is an avenue through which we can see that transformation take place. So, we operate in Kingdom finance whenever we use our money to advance the Kingdom of heaven on earth. Kingdom finance involves giving and investing to help people:
- Experience salvation and get born again
- Empowered to be a Kingdom of priests in the seven mountains
- Reflect the Kingdom in their cities and nations
Let’s dive into that last point a little more.
Wealth Building for The Nations
“Then Jesus came to them and said, “All authority in heaven and on earth has been given to me. Therefore go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit, and teaching them to obey everything I have commanded you. And surely I am with you always, to the very end of the age.” (Matthew 28:18-20)
Jesus made it clear: our assignment is to disciple the nations. However, we often translate The Great Commission to mean “disciple the people.” Of course, that’s a part of it, but I believe that Jesus wants us to grasp a much larger picture. In the Body of Christ, we need a revelation on what it means to disciple the nations.
In Matthew 25, Jesus says that there are sheep nations who follow the Lord, and goat nations who do not. In Matthew 21:43, He also says that “The Kingdom of God will be taken from you and given to a nation bearing the fruits of it.”
So, what does this mean for our finances?
The televangelist Oral Roberts once said, “Whoever controls the finances of a city or nation will control the spiritual climate as well.” That’s because whoever has the finances has the money to influence the culture.
So, Kingdom finance is not just giving to charities or mission organizations (though it can certainly involve that.) On a deeper level, Kingdom finance is about using our time, talent, and treasure to influence culture with biblical principles. Someone with a Kingdom mindset and a good money mindset is motivated to build wealth so that they can make a lasting impact.
3 Ways to Use Your Money for Christian Transformation
1. Give
Kingdom finance requires living from the principle that it is more blessed to give than to receive. (Acts 20:35). Giving generously to nonprofits and other Christian organizations is a way to partner with the work God is doing in the earth (especially when you don’t have the time to do the work yourself.)

2. Actively Climb The Seven Mountains
The Seven Mountains represent the major cultural influences that shape society. My friend Lance Wallnau often refers to them as The Seven Mind Molders of Culture. The seven mountains are: family, religion, education, media, entertainment, business, and government.
Kingdom finance requires getting out of the four walls of the church and spreading the goodness of God throughout culture. Consider what mountains you may be called to, and cultivate a spirit of excellence in your craft. As you build wealth, you can use your financial resources to create systems and structures that reflect the Kingdom of God in those areas. Read: 7 Mountains of Influence Prayer Guide
3. Invest with Kingdom Principles
When you invest in a company, you own a part of it. That’s why an important tenet of Kingdom Finance is investing your money in a way that aligns with your values. Find a Christian financial planner, such as the team at WealthBuilders Investments, to set up your portfolio with biblically responsible, pro-values, and Kingdom impact investments.

In the realm of Kingdom finance, wealth is not an end in itself but a means to an extraordinary end—the transformation of individuals, communities, and nations. As believers embrace the call to build wealth for the Kingdom, they become catalysts for change who actively shape the cultural and spiritual landscape for the glory of God!
