SHOWNOTES
5 Key Aspirations for a Quality Life:
There are foundational principles for a quality life:
- Please God by living a life driven by love for Him, not fear or manipulation.
- Embrace Holiness with a set-apart life, aligning with God’s uncommon nature.
- Operate from God’s love poured into you, allowing you to genuinely love others.
1. Live Quietly (Contentment):
-
- This means finding peaceful rest in God, avoiding anxious striving and embracing His provision.
- Isaiah 119:122 says, “When you’re content and obedient, you’ll eat the good of the land.”
- This contentment does not equate to stagnation but to internal peace and trust in God’s timing.
2. Mind Your Own Affairs
-
- Focus on tending to your own responsibilities and avoiding gossip or intruding in others’ lives.
- The book The Spirit Filled Life advises, “strive to live quietly, not gossiping but tending to your own work.”
- This fosters personal accountability and healthy boundaries.
3. Work with Your Hands
-
- Embrace diligence and productive labor, contributing positively to society.
- Colossians 3:23-24 encourages, “Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord, not for human masters, since you know that you will receive an inheritance from the Lord as a reward. It is the Lord Christ you are serving.”
- Passion and purpose fuel true work.
- Align your hands with the extension of your purpose and passion.
- God blesses our work when it aligns with His plan and reflects our purpose.
- Deuteronomy 28:12 says, “The Lord will open the heavens, the storehouse of His Bounty, and send rain on your land in season and bless all the work of your hands.”
- Ephesians 4:28: “The thief who has become a believer must no longer steal. But instead, he must work hard, making an honest living, producing that which is good with his own hands, so that he will have something to share with those in need.”
4. Walk Properly Before Outsiders
-
- Conduct yourself with integrity and honor, demonstrating God’s character in your public life.
- 1 Thessalonians 4:12 instructs, “so that you may walk properly before outsiders and be dependent on no one.”
- This involves consistent ethical behavior and avoiding unnecessary dependence on others.
- Our conduct serves as a testament to God’s grace and godliness.
- Treat unbelievers with wisdom, making the most of every opportunity to share Christ through gracious conversations.
- Scriptures:
- Colossians 4:5-6: “Conduct yourselves with wisdom in your interactions with outsiders, nonbelievers, make the most of each opportunity treating it as something precious. Let your speech at all times be gracious and pleasant, seasoned with salt so that you will know how to answer each one who questions you.”
- Matthew 5:16: “Even so let your light shine before men, that they may see your good works and glorify your Father who is in heaven.”
5. Be dependent on no one
-
- Aim for financial independence through responsible stewardship and God’s blessing.
- Proverbs 13:21 declares, “Bad company corrupts good character. But the righteous find good companions.”
- This aspiration encourages financial planning, avoiding unnecessary debt, and trusting God’s guidance for provision.
- You can achieve financial independence through responsible management of resources and God’s guidance.
- Prioritize responsible financial planning and avoid dependence on debt that hinders progress.
- Proverbs 13:21 says, “Bad company corrupts good character. But the righteous find good companions.”
- 2 Corinthians 8:13-15 says, “Our purpose in this is not that there should be ease for you and hardship for them; it is to equal things out. So at the present time there can be a sharing that your surplus might now supply their need, so that their surplus can become a supply for your need, in order that there may be equality, just as it is written, ‘The one who gathered much did not have too much, and the one who gathered little did not have too little.'”
- Dependence on others can hinder God’s work and limit our ability to fulfill His will.
- It is important to develop skills, pursue opportunities, and implement sound financial strategies to achieve self-sufficiency.
- Wealth goes beyond mere material possessions; it means having enough resources to accomplish God’s will in your life.
